I know that it is really hard not to give into our cravings. I know that there are some things in life that we feel that we cant live without. Trust me I know. The awesome part about living healthy and this wonderful journey is that we can give into those cravings. YAY!!!!
Every now and then I just have to have a burger. And not one of those flabby fast food burgers. I mean a real burger. A nice juicy burger that just melts in your mouth and makes you feel whole again. So what I do when that happens is is bust out the Foreman and I get my burger on. To make sure that I stay on the right track I use ground turkey. See with a healthy swap here and there, we don’t have to worry that we are getting off track. So LETS GET OUR BURGER ON!!!
What You’ll Need:
1 medium onion – chopped
1 tbs olive oil
2 tbs ketchup – divided
2 tbs mayo – divided
2 tea relish
1 tea vinegar
1 lb lean grass feed ground beef or lean ground turkey
½ tea black pepper
4 burger buns
4 slices of tomatoes
4 leaves of butter or romaine lettuce
4 slices of your fave cheese
What You’ll Do:
In a medium sauce pan combine the onions, 1 tbs of ketchup and oil. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring, until the onions have softened. Reduce the heat and cook until the onions are soft. Then put mixture in a medium sized bowl and set aside for a little.
Add the remaining ketchup, mayo, relish and vinegar to a small bowl and mix up.
Preheat a medium pan (or grill pan) over medium high heat.
In the medium bowl, add the ground beef/turkey and pepper to the mixture and gently combine together (you don’t want to over mix). Make into 4 patties.
Once your pan is hot, oil it up with a little olive oil or cooking spray (so that your patties don’t stick). Add your patties to the pan and reduce the heat to medium to cook. This should take about 5 minutes. Turn the patty and cook on other side for about 5 minutes.
Once the patties are cooked, it’s time to make some PRETTY BURGERS. To assemble, add your fancy ketchup-mayo sauce to the bun, add tomato slice, lettuce, your fave cheese, and then the patty. If you are feeling a little fancy, you can toast your buns!!! Now it’s time to Sit Back and ENJOY!!!
