Christmas Breakfast in Bed
The holidays are the time of year when you break the most rules. We tend to have a cheat meal or two or even three. I will be the first to admit that I like to go all out for breakfast every now and then. And since we are in the Holiday Spirit why not have a nice Holiday Breakfast.
I know there are people that love all the festivities that go along with this time of year. And there are some special foods that you can only find this time of year. So why not make the most of them and do a little more with them while we can. So I introduce you to the a wonderful creation called EGGNOG FRENCH TOAST!!
What You’ll Need:
1 loaf of a crusty bread, sliced 1 inch thick
1 1/2 cups of eggnog
4 large eggs
1/2 tea cinnamon
1/4 tea nutmeg
1 tea vanilla extract
3 -4 tbs unsalted butter
Whipped cream and maple syrup
What You’ll Do:
Set your sliced bread to the side unwrapped so that it can dry out a bit. In a large bowl begin to make your “batter”. Combine eggnog, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Mix with a fork or whisk until everything is completely combined. Heat up 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet or griddle. Dunk two to three slices of bread in the batter, fully coating both sides. Add to the pan once the butter and pan is heated. Cook for about 3 min each side getting that wonderful golden brown color. Once cooked on both sides add to a baking sheet in the oven that has been preheated. Cook all of your slices of bread and serve with whipped cream and warm maple syrup !!!
Top Chef Tip: preheat your oven 250 to keep cooked french toast warm until you serve.
