Let’s Make Salmon Burgers
It’s no secret that I LOVE to eat. Being as how I love to eat I LOVE to cook. I just about any and everything and what I don’t know how to cook I find a good recipe. When looking to cook something for the first time it’s important that you actually take some time to research recipes. These may seem like work and you think that it will take the fun out of cooking the meal but there is nothing worse than starting with a recipe and getting down the list and realize that it’s not for you.
This has happened to me a time a two. Picking the first recipe that comes on the google list and getting whatever ingredients that you don’t have, having everything all prepped and ready to go. Then you start reading the list of what to do and realize that this aint where it’s at and having to scrape the whole meal. So the best thing to do is read the whole recipe ingredients and how to do it and see if it’s the one for you.
With all that being said, this recipe for Salmon Burgers is a simple and easy recipe that won’t take you more than 10-15 minutes. Which to me is one of the most important things I look at when researching recipes, how much time will this ENTIRE recipe take me. Yes, I love to good, but after a long day, I don’t really want to be standing over a hot stove forever and I would love to get to the eating part as soon as possible.
Burgers are a wonderful thing, yes they are. With everything being said about beef and pork most people have moved to the wonderful land of turkey. Turkey burgers do take a little bit of work because turkey doesn’t have as much fat and moisture but they are still delicious. But after eating a turkey burger at every cookout or bar-bee-que , you being to want something new and different. Enter the salmon burger. Now to be honest, you can make the salmon burger as simple as you like as you would a regular burger (beef or pork) or you can jazz it up and make it food network worthy. It’s totally up to you. Here we have a basic recipe to get you started and you can kick it up a notch how you would like.
Let’s get started:
1 16oz can of salmon, drained
¼ onion finely chopped
¼ cup panko bread crumbs (you can use regular bread crumbs if you don’t have panko)
2 tbs lemon juice
Add various seasonings = parsley, basil, Italian seasoning (which every floats your boat)
Olive oil to cook with
Here’s what to do:
Heat up pan on stove. In a large bowl combine the salmon, eggs, bread crumbs, onions, lemon juice and seasonings. Mix everything up until its fully incorporated. Make the mixture into burgers and set aside. You should be able to make about 6 that around ½ inch thick. Add the olive oil to pan and let it heat up. Once oil is hot add the salmon burger to the pan. Cook for about 4 minutes on each side. Once they are done, add to bun and enjoy.
