Ginger, Ginger, GINGER !!

I am a big fan of Ginger. It is great to add to a meal for some flavor and also a treat to have as tea with a little honey. The amazing thing about ginger is its versatility, It can be used to make cookies like ginger snaps or ginger molasses cookies or even used to make drinks like teas and ginger beer. The great part is that it is filled with tons of health benefits. Ginger is becoming the popular kid in High School, in what seems like over night.

Nutritionally, just one cup of the root (ginger is a root), is only about 80 calories, less than 18 grams of carbs and around 2 grams of fiber and protein. When your adding a tablespoon to any meal, you are only adding about 5 cals to your whole meal but a ton of flavor. Now that’s enough to make anyone what to add ginger to a meal. To make ginger even more attractive, it is packed with vitamins and minerals such as iron, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and zinc.

Ginger does come in many forms. You can buy it fresh, powdered, dried, peeled, chopped, as a oil, chip or even juice. Before you run off to the farmers market or grocery store to stock up, here are some other benefits of ginger for your every day life.
