Time to CLEANSE - Or NAH

 

As we all know the summer is upon us. And needless to say our summer bodies aren't are ready as we hoped for by now. Yea I know the feeling. I was doing so freaking food, then I went out of town for one week and everything that I worked so hard for just went to crap. Not only was I eating out like crazy but I want getting any workout time nor was I getting good sleep. All these thing contributed to my downfall. 

 

So of course one of the first things that we think of is "Oh I'm gonna do the latest cleanse diet and everything will be fine." NO. That's not how it works. That's not how none of this works. 

Let's dispel a couple of things:

  1. Cleanse diets don't mean a thing to your body
  2. Your body doesn't really need your help
  3. Hoping on a new fad is never a good thing 
  4. Your body naturally cleanses itself daily

Sorry to dash your hopes about the quick fix of a cleanse diet, but I rather you hear it now then a month later when you see no results and your up set and ready to give up on it all. Just like a get rich quick scheme, or any multi level marketing "investment", a cleanse diet is not going to do a thing for you but make you upset LOL. 

Honestly speaking, organs in your body like your kidneys and livers functions are to cleanse your body. That is their sole responsibility. That take care of it all with out you even knowing.

Your GI tract begins with your mouth and from there the enzymes in you stomach and small and large intesting absorb what nutrients you need and get rid of the rest. The liver takes any "toxins" and converts it into other helpful compounds or makes it into bile. The "waste" that you still have left over still has use, it helps absorb the nutrients you do need from the foods you eat.

When you try and "help" by giving you liver a "break" it is both antithetical to what the liver does on a regular basis and like telling someone how to do their job - and your wrong !!

Granted I know you don't believe me and feel that you can and need to do something to aid in this process. I guess its just our human nature. If you have this feeling what you can do is eat clean for the same about of time that you would have done the cleanse. 

So if you were going to do a 3 or 5 day cleanse, you would eat clean for the 3 or 5 days. What does clean eating entail you ask. It would be super strict eating of fruits and vegetables. Absolutely nothing fried or processed. Not canned goods. You would be eating the freshest of the freshest. The farmers market will be your best friend. 

The best part of this is that you don't have to limit it to just 3 or 5 days. You would be setting yourself up to start on a path of healthy eating and healthy living. You will see that eating fresh foods really isn't has hard as we thought. That being able to eat things in their freshest state task so much better than anything that comes from a bag or can. 

You will be expanding your skills in the kitchen as well as experiencing some amazing new things. Truthfully speaking, changing the way that you eat changes a lot about your life outside of the kitchen. You start to talk about the different things that you find out and the people around you start to join in on the conversations. Its truly amazing. 

I know it has been a lot to take in and wrap your head around. Cleanse diets are just a gimmick like network marketing. But you are so much better than both of them. Don't you forget it !!!
