Tips to Prevent Getting the Flu

So, you have a bit of a runny nose, a cough, you feel kind of achy and you think your running a fever. You think that it may be a regular cold, but you start to get the chills. Guess what … You have the FLU.

This year the flu season is in full effect and it is crazier than ever. People are DYING. Its not a joke and this isn’t a test. The strain of the flu this year is actually taking lives. The worst of it is that it isn’t discriminating. The unfortunate reality is that both young and old are falling victim to this year’s flu strain.

Without getting to caught up in the numbers of deaths and getting super scared to even leave the house, just know that you can take some preventive measures:

Avoid close Contact – steer clear of people who are already sick as to not get their germs. If you are sick, stay away as to not spread germs

Remember Good Health Habits – remember to clean and disinfect all surfaces at home, work, or school. Stay active, get sleep, drink plenty of fluids and get vitamin rich foods.

Cover your mouth and nose – cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing and sneezing as to not spread germs.

Clean your hands – washing your hands often will help to prevent germs. Soap and water is best but when its not available use an alcohol-based sanitizer.

Avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose – the spreading of germs happens when we touch something that already been contaminated such as a door knob. Make sure not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth after.
