Time to Hit Reset

I will not even begin to lie; it was the Holiday so things happened. I may have had too much of certain things and had thing I wasn’t supposed to. But it was the HOLIDAY, what was I supposed to do. Yes, maybe I should have shown a little restraint and watched what I was doing, but it was the HOLIDAY. And what a good holiday it was. Fun in the sun.  What a good time on the beach just chilling out and having a good time. To be honest, I do not consume alcohol, so I didn’t have an issue with that nor any temptations. Food is my real weakness *insert sad face*. I just love it. It completes me.

I know not to get out of hand with it so I won’t end up right where I started from, but it be calling me *scratches neck like a true fiend*. There weren’t any BBQs involved so I didn’t have to worry about having too many hamburgers or too much sugary drinks, but the beach did have a place to get food and it was fried food and I know I had way too much. Like many people I used the excuse “I don’t do this often so its ok”.

As we all know that isn’t an excuse. Not doing it often doesn’t make it ok to over indulge in something. We don’t eat certain thing because we know we shouldn’t be eating it. Then when we do eat it, we eat way too much to “compensate” for all that we feel we have missed out on. This is how we fall back into the trap of our bad ways and bad habits that we are trying to correct. This is the reason we are trying to be the BEST version of ourselves. We know that our old ways aren’t cutting it.

So, what do we do next. DETOX. We find some tea or some food that says “detox” all over it and think this will make all my problems go away. We think that because it says detox all on the label that everything bad that we did will no longer exist. We figure that we are going to flush our systems and all the bad foods that we ate will no longer exist and we will start from zero and get right back on track. Let me let you in on a little secret, DETOX TEAS ARENT REAL. Detox teas DO NOT work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Don’t get too down on yourself. I feel for the same trap not too long ago. I got caught up in the hype of detox teas. I believed all the ads and the females with their cups smiling in pictures with the caption saying that they had lost weight, felt great, and it was all thanks to the tea. I wanted the quick fix as well. Its seemed like the magic solution that I had always been looking for. But it’s not.

The thing is, the body NATURALLY detoxes itself on a daily basis. On a DAILY basis. Your organs do all this on their own. Truthfully, when you are doing everything that you are supposed to, they do a really amazing job. Believe me I get it. You ate really bad, you drank way too much, or you did a whole bunch of both. But your organs really don’t need your help in terms of detox teas. Yes, eating a bunch of food that you shouldn’t does make it harder on your organs to break down and process the foods you put in. And to add, you haven’t really added anything that provides nutrients that will help your body function properly. But detox teas still aren’t the answer, it doesn’t help a thing.

There is still light at the end of the tunnel. All hope is not lost. You can help your organs out. You can do this naturally and in a way, that actually makes a difference. You can eat your FRUITS and VEGGIES like you were originally supposed to. Eating fruits and vegetables is the best and biggest help that you can give your body. This is because your organs and easily break them down and process all the nutrients that they afford the body. Detox is another way to say CLEANSE. The best ways to cleanse your body is to give it EXACTLY what it needs. This is done but eating fruits and vegetables, allowing they body to naturally push out all that other junk. I know that you are thinking “well what is it that I should be eating then?” I have some up with a list of some simple foods that will help you naturally cleanse your body and get you right back on track.
