Cheers to the WEEKEND

I made it. MY first actual week of the New Year. I put in a lot of work. Made some good decisions and a lot of bad, but I made it. And truthfully, I’m glad it’s over. I have been going through this week as if it were a practice run for the year as a whole. I didn’t do that bad. I took a lot of notes. I know what works and what doesn’t. Most IMPORTANTLY, I know how to ADJUST. This is the biggest lesson that I have learned this week and something I am definitely putting into practice as the days, weeks, and months go by, ADJUST.

The second lesson, saying NO. It is something that I seriously struggle with. But this week has taught me that ALWAYS being available to EVERYONE, means I get NOTHING done from MYSELF. Helping out everyone when they NEED me, has left me super drained and getting home later and later. I accidently went to bed at like 8:30p one day. I didn’t even realize how exhausted I was. I sat down to take a minutet to get my thoughts together and get in order all the things I needed to catch up on and PASSED OUT. It was one of those things were you don’t realize you were sleep until you wake up. So of course that means I got nothing done that night.

But Progress comes in the morning. After realizing I wasted my life away, I got right on it. Got my plans in order and went to town. I was able to make up for all that was lost. Now I am back on track and Living for the WEEKEND. I have my to-do list down and my planners ready, yes all three. This weekend will be about PROGRESS and COMPLETION. I am on a mission to set myself up for success, and still get in some rest and relaxation.

The weekend is often a time where people forget that there are still GOALS that need to be achieved. Most times we use the weekend as CHEAT DAYS. That is a very bad habit to get into. Cheat MEALS, become cheat DAYS, and next thing you know it’s a CHEAT WEEKEND. What people don’t realize is that you are only cheating yourself. You have put in a lot of hard work during the week making sure you eat right and get exercise in, why throw that all away in two days. Then Sunday night you’re trying to figure out what happened and how you got so far from your goals. So Monday you’re left starting from scratch. Don’t do it to yourself. Here are some tips to keep you focused and working towards your goals this weekend:

I like to take the week as a time to do lighter workouts, especially if I have been going hard all week. I still make sure to get that gym time in but instead of doing big number I scale back a little. This way I am still being productive and working towards my goals. Most importantly, I try to get OUTSIDE workouts in. I do this by going for brisk walks and doing small exercises out in the sun.
